1:: Progeny tests are at the moment the only sure method in order to know the genetic merit of a breeding animal.

2:: It is not possible to know in advance, about the pedigree, what it will be the genetic value of every single subject, so we advise you not to use in a massive way a single bull on trial.

3:: Several studies have confirmed that with the use of a group of bulls on a progeny test it can be obtained an average genetic improvement in the herd.

For a correct use of progeny tests we suggest you to:

1:: Turn to a group of young bulls chosen through correct principles of quantitative genetics.

2:: Use a few quantity for each single bull on trial, in order to obtain a higher genetic variability in the daughters.

3:: Substitute the old bulls using the more recent genetics of young bulls.
