THE DOSE OF COOLED SEMEN
Close to the advantages of the artificial insemination it is important to know that in a dose of sperm there are alive cells (from 3 to 5 billion), the spermatozoa, that are found in an anomalous situation that is out both masculine (from which derive) and female (for which are destined) organisms. In these conditions the sperms are fragile and particularly sensitive to:
Temperature variations
(the doses are stored to 16°C. At this temperature the semen remains fully vital up to 6-7 days; however the performances of the fertilization are better if the sperm is used promptly. If the dose is heated before the fertilization and then it is not used it is not convenient to refrigerate it again for re-use. These temperature variations kill the sperms)
light
(the doses preserved to the dark and however not exposed to the sun or to strong lights)
vibrations
(never to shake the doses violently, during storing to 16°C or before the use the containers can be rotated softly once a day to re-suspend the sperms). |
